Devon County Council has agreed on a two-year, £1 million deal with PwC as a digital and technology strategic partner.

It has signed the business and tech consultancy for support in advising, designing and delivering services in line with its Digital and Technology Strategy, a new version of which was published earlier this year.

The contract notice indicates that it should enable the council to get the right skills for the right period for each activity.

Elements of the deal include support for cyber security, user research, service design, user experience design, business analysis, market assessment and options analysis.

Much of this will be done on Devon’s core technologies from Microsoft and low code platform provider OutSystems.

Plans for 2024

Its digital strategy includes a series of plans to be in place by 2024. These include an integrated, multi-disciplinary technology service, a dashboard of key metrics on digital transformation, a customer engagement centre with more digital self-service, and increased use of emerging technologies including intelligent virtual agents, robotics and automation tools.

“The creation and ongoing improvement of these services will be informed by insight gained through activities such as user research, service performance information, web analytics, user feedback and other available evidence,” the document says.
