Joined Up Care Derbyshire has taken a major step towards providing an integrated care record for the county through a £7.2 million deal with Orion Health.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has acted as contracting authority for the partnership in an agreement for the company to develop a secure shared care record for everyone living in the county.
The move is aimed at promoting better joined up care between health and social bodies by giving care professionals appropriate access to an individual’s record.
It is expected to deliver a minimum viable solution by September of this year.
Joined Up Care Derbyshire said that further details will be made public over the coming months, and pointed to a precedent set in the development of the Dorset Shared Care Record.
Avoid urge to rush
Tracy Allen, the partnership’s lead on digital innovation, said: “This is a first step and it is important that we get the solution right rather than rush to a launch date.
“We are confident that Orion has the expertise to devise a shared care record which is compatible with our various patient record systems and offers a watertight, secure portal through which care professionals can get a holistic view of each person seeking their help.”
The other partners in Joined Up Care Derbyshire are: Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and DHU Health Care, Derbyshire GP Alliance and East Midlands Ambulance Service.
