Two East Midlands fire and rescue services have signed to use Saab’s SAFE platform for their control room operations.

Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire FRSs have reached agreement with the company in their joint service collaboration.

Saab said SAFE will provide them with a unified mobilisation and communications platform to streamline business and operational workflows. It is founded on a configuration framework that makes it possible to create and modify key processes such as incident management, call handling and attribute based mobilisation.

Michael Sharman, assistant chief fire officer and strategic collaboration lead for the two services, said: “By investing in a new mobilisation system, we will ensure that we are able to deliver a high quality service more efficiently and effectively.

“We are excited to build a positive working relationship with Saab UK and to see the benefits that this new system will bring for our communities, our firefighters, and the control room staff who use it.”

The two FRSs follow several others in the UK in signing up to use the SAFE platform.
