Surrey Heartlands launched an integrated health and social care record in five months against the backdrop of covid and the incredible pressure on the healthcare system.

Katherine Church, former chief digital officer for the integrated care system (ics), shares her observations, their approach and the lessons learnt on the way. At UKAuthority's Integrated Digital Health and Care she explained how the key partners - Surrey County Council and health organisations - worked together to create the Surrey Care Record which now allows the secure sharing of health and care data between health and care professionals for the purposes of delivering safer, quicker, and more coordinated local services, and describes it as 'the one of the jewels in the digital crown'.
