The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has unveiled an online hub with resources, information and guidance on climate change adaptation.
It has developed the Climate Change Hub with government research body Forest Research – which will manage the resource – Scotttish Forestry and the Welsh Government, and said it is aimed at supporting landowners, woodland managers and forestry practitioners.
The hub provides information on risks from the changing climate, how to identify suitable adaptation measures, guidance on decision making and examples of how other managers are implementing the practice.
Its development follows commitments set out in the recently published Environment Improvement Plan and reflects the Government’s net zero strategy.
Forestry Minister Trudy Harrison said: “Trees and tree management are crucial parts of our plan to reach net zero by 2050, and resources such as the Climate Change Hub support the forest industry to make better, more informed and ultimately more sustainable decisions when it comes to tree planting and woodland management.”
