The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) has announced plans for a new behavioural analytics competition scoping workshop.
It is set to take place on 13 September and is aimed at the development of solutions using behavioural analytics for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) – the parent department of DASA – and its partners to understand human behaviour from the estimated 2.5 quintillion (1,000 to the power of six) bytes a day of user uploaded data.
It will lead to the provision of more than £5 million over 26 months to support successful entries.
The competition is based on the understanding that all defence and security activities are designed to have an impact or influence on the behaviours of an individual, a group or community, a network or organisation. Meanwhile, data generated by humans offers enormous potential to change how scientists can observe and understand human attitudes and behaviour.
Priorities
The organisation is particularly interested in how it can use behavioural analytics to improve understanding and measurement, make confident and ethical predictions, and make better judgements on interventions for defence and security.
DASA said it is interested in a range of multi and interdisciplinary approaches (such as social, computer, neuro and info sciences) and would welcome interest from any organisation including academia, SMEs, and primes.
The full competition document launch will be held in October 2018.
