The University of Hertfordshire has become the latest education institution to be hit by a cyber attack.

It has published a statement on the home page of its website saying that late on the evening of 14 April all of its systems were affected by the incident, including cloud services such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

This prompted it to cancel all online teaching for at least two days.

Its status page showed that most systems were subject to disruption in the late afternoon.

The university said was working to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

This comes after a spate of cyber attacks on education institutions, which has prompted the National Cyber Security Centre to publish an alert with guidance for mitigating malware and ransomware.
