The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has signed IT consultancy CGI as partner for the provision of applications, database and infrastructure management services (ADIMS).

They have agreed on a £55 million contract that came into force at the beginning of November and is scheduled to run until 17 March 2029.

It involves support for the CPS’s Future Casework Tools programme, which is developing digital solutions to improve the quality of case and the user experience, and to increase efficiency in the organisation.

An attachment to the contract award notice says the company will be responsible for a ‘business as usual’ service supporting the CPS case management system, witness management system and management information system, resolving bugs and managing vulnerabilities.

The supplier “will provide appropriately skilled resources to run and maintain the legacy systems ensuring business continuity of the CPS’s mission critical systems,” the documents says. “This supplier’s team will need to make changes to the legacy system to keep pace with change, including but not limited to new legislation and criminal justice procedures.”

It adds that further contracts will be let to implement a new cloud based infrastructure and reduce the reliance on legacy systems, and to provide new core middleware services.

Matthew Cain, chief digital information officer at CPS, said: “The delivery of ADIMS will enhance our operations and provide important benefits to the criminal justice system.”
