HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has launched a free digital support service to help people use its online channels.

It has partnered with social impact company We Are Digital in setting up the service, which is aimed at people who are less confident or able to access online services.

HMCTS service centre staff and organisations in the We Are Digital support network can refer people to the service for completing forms.

It applies to services including appealing a benefit decision, making a plea for non-imprisonable offence, making or responding to a small money claim, applying for help with justice feeds, applying for probate of an estate and applying or responding to a divorce.

Preventing exclusion

“As part of our investment in reforming our justice system, we’ve ensured that there’s a digital journey available for lots of our services,” HMCTS said. “The digital support service will make sure that our users can access these online services, and nobody is excluded.”

It added that an independent research organisation is evaluating the service to inform future decisions on the delivery of digital support.
