The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) has entered a five-year agreement with data and software company CACI for councils to access its Paycheck data and use its Acorn tool.

Paycheck provides gross household income estimates at postcode level for the UK, while Acorn is a geodemographic and segmentation tool for understanding consumer characteristics.

The parties have agreed on a federated Scotland-wide data licence, which COSLA said will provide support for councils in targeted interventions related to housing, poverty, health and wellbeing.

So far 23 councils have signed up to the agreement.

CACI and the Digital Office for local government and plan to support councils in adoption and facilitate shared learning and will meet this month to develop an engagement plan.
