Tower Hamlets takes street works online with Yotta Mayrise
Tower Hamlets Council is implementing the internet-hosted Mayrise Street Works system from Yotta for management and coordination of its street works. The system will enable the council to respond to changes in street work legislation, such as the newly introduced EToN 6, Yotta says. It will also help the authority implement mobile working and achieve efficiency gains through more effective inspection regimes and streamlined reporting. "We selected Mayrise Street Works as it had the most user friendly interface", said Ashraf Ali, Network Operations Manager at Tower Hamlets. "With one homepage it's easy and intuitive to navigate to exactly where you need to be, unlike our previous system," Mayrise is a solution for managing street work notices for both street and highways authorities and statutory undertakers. Handling the Street Works Register, National Street Gazetteer, inspections management and defect reporting, the system eliminates paperwork, ensures best practice and provides up to date information on the status of all works.

Middlesbrough selects UNIT4 Agresso for business planning
Middlesbrough Council has purchased the UNIT4 Agresso Local Government ERP (enterprise resource planning) Platform from enterprise software specialist UNIT4, the company has announced. The platform, which replaces an SAP system, will be delivered through UNIT4 Cloud to underpin services in finance, human resources, procurement, and payroll. The project also includes provision of a finance and procurement platform for more than 50 council maintained schools. "Change is relentless, just to adapt internally we go through re-organisations as often as once every three or four months," said Karen Whitmore, director for organisation and governance for Middlesbrough Council. "UNIT4 Agresso Modeller will provide us with a simple tool to view, model and re-organise our business structure so that we can understand what is best for us." Under the system, self-service will allow managers to access the information and analytics they require across any internet-connected device. UNIT4 is already the leading provider of ERP to local government in the UK.

Capita data sharing at Hampshire schools and children's services
Capita has signed a deal with Hampshire County Council to provide IT systems to boost data sharing between schools and children's services teams. Capita's One management information system and SIMS Learning Gateway will integrate with third party components to give practitioners a more complete picture of a child's circumstances. This will help implement timely interventions and improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families, the company says. Staff with the appropriate authorisation will be able to log on and see caseload detail and relevant information on children and young people from other systems. For example, a social worker will be able to access pupil attendance or attainment data alongside referral and assessment records, helping them to deliver the right support, at the right time, to children and families. The new set-up could even make it easier for practitioners to identify children at risk of offending so effective early help and prevention measures can be put in place. The Capita solution was selected following a two-year tender process. As part of the contract, Capita will be supporting Hampshire in improving the use of the SIMS management information system in classrooms across its 536 schools, the majority of which use SIMS to record pupil data. This will help the authority ensure the information available in SIMS, such as details of pupils' attendance and achievement, informs good decision-making and drives whole-school improvement.
