Getmapping and Bluesky win government-wide contract for aerial photography
Aerial mapping companies Getmapping and Bluesky have been awarded a multi-million pound contract for the supply of geographic data to government organisations in Great Britain. The contract, awarded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), covers high resolution aerial photography, detailed 3D height models and Colour Infra-Red imagery for the whole of England, Wales and Scotland. Under the new Aerial Photography for Great Britain (APGB) contract Getmapping and Bluesky can also provide training, consultancy and workshops to contract members. The agreement marks a move from the previous five-year update cycle to a three-year update programme. All data provided under the contract is available to order by the APGB members through an on-line portal supplied by Airbus Defence and Space, or in any other format they require.

Rochford switches To PayByPhone for cashless car parking
PayPoint Mobile and Online has expanded its presence in Essex with the launch of PayByPhone in 11 car parks operated by Rochford District Council, the company has announced. Rochford Council has joined nearby Chelmsford, which has been operating PayByPhone for just over a year. PayByPhone is the UK's leading specialist phone parking service, offering a range of phone parking payments including NFC (near field communications) parking, QR codes, smartphone apps and cash payments in local PayPoint shops. PayPoint has recently rebranded the PayByPhone and online payments side of its business to become one distinct operation, trading as PayPoint Mobile and Online. However, PayByPhone will continue to be the brand promoted to consumers, the company says.

Gedling sticks with Omnico to upgrade leisure management
Gedling Borough Council has reappointed customer management, loyalty and branding specialists Omnico Group to upgrade its IT administration for the operational management of its leisure portfolio, comprising five leisure centres and a theatre. Omnico Group will upgrade the council's existing Clarity Flex system to ClarityLive, launching in July 2014. The upgrade will improve the day-to-day operational management of the borough's leisure facilities, facilitating online bookings and payments for the Bonington Theatre as well as the payment of leisure centre membership online, the company says. In addition, Omnico's ClarityLive solution will improve operational efficiency by reducing labour intensity for receptionists, cutting queues in reception areas that tend to 'bottleneck' during peak times, it says.
