Ramsay Health Care partners with IMS Maxims
A major provider of hospital services has signed a 10-year deal with IMS Maxims for its openMaxims electronic patient record and clinical modules. Ramsay Health Care said it aims to use the open source system to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.
IMS Maxims will add functions as part of the contract, including electronic prescribing, medical device integration, voice recognition, direct booking capability and a pharmacy system. It will be deployed across all 32 Ramsay Health Care sites in the UK, and is expected to have an average of 1,500 active users at any one time.

Sheffield Hospitals take Orion Health clinical portal
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has done a deal with HP Enterprise Services UK for the supply of the new Clinical Portal from Orion Health. It will provide staff with access to health records from any location.
David Throssell, the trust's medical director, said: "This new portal will act as an umbrella across a number of our current computer systems, meaning hospital and community health staff will only have to log in once to view the different patient information systems on one screen. It will enable a single clinical view of every patient and enable more joined up working between community, acute and primary care professionals."
He added that it provide the technology for staff to talk to other NHS organisations, share information and obtain advice.

Isle of Wight joins up health and social care with Civica
Specialist systems provider Civica has extended its partnership with the Isle of Wight NHS Trust so the Isle of Wight Council adults' social services team can use its Paris electronic patient record. The move is intended to help the authorities deliver more integrated health and social care to the island's population.
Irene Woodford, ICT client link development manager at Isle of Wight Council, said: "The project forms part of a wider programme of work around integration of adults' social care and health services. It is the ideal solution to achieve the vision of person-centred, coordinated health and social care. Initial focus will be on implementing the requirements around the Care Act, with further projects around information sharing and integration".
Paris will be used by 150+ social care and back office support staff.
