New Forest selects ROCC Contractor Management System
New Forest District Council has awarded ROCC a five year contract for the supply and implementation of the company's Uniclass Contractor Management System. The council's building works team has grown over the past few years and has brought back in-house services previously undertaken by external contractors including gas servicing, reactive repairs, electrical testing and inspection, bathroom refurbishments and heating installations. The team now includes 59 tradesmen, 11 surveying roles and an admin support team of six staff, as well as a regular bank of agency tradesmen. "During this period of growth, systems used to run the business have not changed significantly," said Fiona Hughes, service level manager at New Forest. "Investment in new systems was therefore considered necessary to modernise service delivery, achieve further efficiencies and improve service delivery to tenants."
The ROCC solution includes the Uniclass Mobile Working solution, allowing tradesmen to receive work using a mobile device in the field, helping to reduce unnecessary travel by.

North Lanarkshire Leisure chooses finance management suite from Advanced
North Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd, a charity which delivers sports and leisure services on behalf of Lanarkshire Council in Scotland, has selected Advanced Business Solutions (Advanced) to provide finance and resource management solutions. These include OpenAccounts, OpenHR, OpenPeople, RealFlair, OpenPlanning plus integrated stock control, document management and business intelligence/reporting applications. North Lanarkshire Leisure is one of the biggest charity leisure trusts in the UK, operating from 18 major sites, employing around 1,000 staff and managing annual revenues of £24 million.The applications will be rolled out on a phased basis starting with HR, then finance and payroll, with all systems going live by March 2014. "We expect key benefits to be time savings, cost savings and a significant improvement in the level of service we can give to our staff, customers and suppliers, for example through self-service access" said Blane Dodds, chief executive of North Lanarkshire Leisure. OpenPlanning will allow the charity to manage cashflow more closely, Dodds said. "In terms of running various business scenarios and financial projections, those are key aspects to our business," he said. "It will allow us to manage projects from a financial basis much more closely too, which is good because we run a lot of capital programmes where we need good project management and financial information."
