Glasgow airport bus adds augmented reality to seat backs
The Glasgow airport bus service Glasgow Shuttle service 500, run by First Glasgow, claims to have become the world's first service of its kind to fit "augmented reality" technology to the back of passenger seats. Passengers download the First Scotland AR app using the service's free Wi-Fi connection and point their mobile phone, or tablet, at a vinyl fitted to the seat in front. The app launches an interactive action screen showing short films about Glasgow 2014 preparations and all that is going on in the city. With the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games now underway, the presentation will be updated to include links to the latest Games news, plus traffic and travel reports. Content has been produced by First Glasgow in partnership with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau. First Glasgow's managing director Fiona Kerr said: "We expect the Glasgow Shuttle to carry thousands of visitors this summer thanks to Glasgow 2014. We're well prepared for the Games and I'm really pleased that we've been able to implement ground-breaking new 'augmented reality' technology to help welcome visitors to Glasgow. Our new 'augmented reality' feature brings our seat-backs to life and makes bus travel more interesting, enjoyable and useful for our Shuttle customers and complements the free Wi-Fi on board."

Advanced launches OpenMobile Expenses application for smartphones
Business applications firm Advanced Business Solutions has launched its OpenMobile Expenses app, enabling staff to submit expense claims via their smartphones or tablets when working remotely.
Users are also able to submit photographs of receipts, eliminating paper-based administration and reporting. The app transfers information to the Advanced OpenAccounts finance system. Expense claims are imported into Advanced's workflow solution, eBIS, from where they are routed to departmental managers for authorisation. The app can be pre-set with mandatory fields in order to capture key information, such as dates, the reasons for the expense claim and the amount. Expenses are then categorised via a simple drop down menu ensuring the accuracy of information submitted by users. All expenses are automatically checked to ensure adherence to company policies, and those that contravene rules are flagged for review.
