The Christie NHS Foundation Trust has begun to use a digital health platform that supports low code development and an openEHR (electronic health record) data platform.
It agreed on a five-year contract in July to use the technology from Better to modernise its EHR and transform its clinical, patient and cancer research services.
The Christie, the largest single site cancer centre in Europe, has previously developed an EHR with over 600 clinical forms and other applications. It plans to migrate these into the Better Digital Health Platform using its in-house e-forms tam and clinical digital champions.
Better said that using openEHR – an e-health technology consisting of open platform specifications, clinical models and software – will enable the trust to unify cancer data into one patient-centric longitudinal record. This should support direct care and structured storage of clinical data for research, innovation and the development of artificial intelligence applications.
Partner integration
Combined with the use of open APIs complying to the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards it will also support the integration of data with that of regional and national partners.
