Cheshire Constabulary is to deploy a trio of solutions from software firm Unit4 as part of moving its back office systems back in-house.

The police and crime commissioner for the county has agreed a deal with the company to use its enterprise resource planning (ERP), financial planning and analysis, and human capital management systems as part of an integrated information infrastructure.

The constabulary is currently running the back office functions on an Oracle Cloud platform managed through the Multi-Force Shared Service centre.

Unit4 said the immediate focus will be on delivering the requirements around core HR, payroll, finance and procurement for the force, and integrating the ERP with police software for functions such as duty management and rostering.

Julie Gill, assistant chief officer at Cheshire Constabulary, said: “Our vision is for even safer communities for the whole of Cheshire.

“Selecting Unit4 will enable us to redirect frontline services and give us the data and support services we need to enable our officers and staff to be their most effective. Achieving this will ensure that it does not distract but supports their primary role of real neighbourhood policing.”

Chris Richards, regional president UKI for Unit4, said the move will support self-service and mobile working with all the necessary security.
