Nine local authorities across Cheshire and Merseyside have joined the list of those involved in the Mobilise initiative to provide online support to unpaid carers.
The councils – Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, St Helens, Warrington and Wirral – have brought the total number using the Mobilise platform to 38.
The platform provides an online community of carers and other sources of support. Its features include tailor made support guides on issues such as balancing caring with work, and information on carers’ rights and relevant social care law.
Cllr Jill Rhodes, chair of the adults and health committee at Cheshire East Council, said: “By joining this initiative, we're taking a significant step towards recognising and supporting the invaluable contribution of our local carers. The Mobilise digital tool will empower unpaid carers to access the help they need, when they need it."
Other councils joining the initiative this year include Surrey and 13 in the North East of England.
