The Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) is working on an online system to support spending controls on government bodies set by HM Treasury.

It has already run discovery and alpha projects on a spend controls tooling platform and is now looking for private sector support in a nine-month beta project.

The platform will apply to adherence with spend controls on digital and technology, along with areas such as commercial, property and consultancy.

It is being designed for product owners and IT managers to get approval for spending on services and products, for spend controls advisers to track cases and issue approvals, and for data scientists to bring relevant data together.

Supplier shortlist

Details of the market notice for support indicate that the platform will run in a low code environment with a shortlist of suppliers including Mendix, GOSSS and Equiniti already identified as the likely choice.

The tooling will conform to the Cabinet Office’s Technology Code of Practice.

Government bodies currently have to get approval from CDDO, in line with guidance it has published, for some digital and technology services.
