Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cisco to help accelerate adoption of secure digital technology in central government and the wider public sector.

Cisco said the new agreement enables its partners to provide diverse and flexible bundled offers at standardised prices.

Philip Orumwense, commercial director and chief technology procurement officer at CCS said: “The new MoU with Cisco will give the Government and the wider public sector access to competitive rates and discounts, allowing them to maximise commercial benefits whilst enabling our cyber security capabilities. Moreover, Cisco’s digital skills acceleration programme will also help improve public service capability and expertise.”

“Cisco’s agreement with CCS brings us one step closer to creating a next generation digital infrastructure that supports the citizens of the future,” added Adele Every, managing director for public sector, Cisco UK and Ireland.

“Public sector buyers will benefit from the MoU, designed to deliver the highest standards and greatest value for money. Our latest technology solutions paired with digital upskilling opportunities will bring connectivity right to the heart of government and for the benefit of communities within regions across the UK.”

By 2025, the Government is committed to upskilling over 90% of senior civil servants on digital and data essentials. To help meet this aim, over 2000 hours of free, self paced digital training will be available to the sector via the Cisco Networking Academy. This follows an announcement in June of free digital and cybersecurity skills training for everyone who works in the NHS.
