Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has launched a new procurement framework for off-the-shelf technology such as laptops, desktop screens and accompanying software.

Named the Technology Online Purchasing Content framework, it will replace Lot 6 on the Technology Products 2 framework when it expires at the end of October 2021.

CCS said that 62 suppliers have been awarded places on the agreement, 36% of which are SMEs, and that it will provide a flexible and compliant direct award route for the public sector’s low complexity technology needs.

Patrick Nolan, CCS director, technology pillar, said: “Customers have been telling us during pre-engagement that they wanted a catalogue through which they could buy low value, low complexity technology hardware and software.

“This catalogue allows for a quick and easy route for the market with ‘search, click and buy’ functionality for products and software. We have seen a rise in the market for a quick way to purchase products and this catalogue provides this function.”

The framework sits alongside that for Technology and Associated Services (TePAS), through which customers can run competitions for their goods if that is their preferred route.
