Procurement body says new agreement should support public sector organisations’ efforts to move from paper to digital
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has brought together a range of print and records management services in a new procurement framework that it says is the largest of its type.
It developed the agreement – snappily titled Multifunctional Devices, Managed Print and Content Services and Records and Information Management – with public sector purchasing organisation YPO and the Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation. The thinking behind it has been that bringing the services into a single agreement will support the efforts of many organisations to cut their print volumes in favour of digital documents.
The agreement is broken up into seven lots and involves 11 suppliers, including leading names in the field such as Canon, Kyocera, Konica Minolta and Ricoh. It covers a range of services, including the supply of multifunctional devices, print management strategy, scanning services, sensitivity reviews, audit and consultancy.
CCS said this makes it possible to reduce costs and wastage by consolidating devices and storage, and to be more proactive in managing consumables such as toner and paper.
It also emphasised the security element of the agreement, saying that the records management services are compliant with government standards; and stressed the potential to reduce carbon footprint with new energy-efficient devices.
