The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has launched the latest version of Network Services procurement framework for the public sector.

It said that Network Services 3 provides an increased focus on ‘cloud first’ connectivity solutions, along with internet of things (IoT) and smart cities technologies, as well as continuing to provide a procurement route for core services such as site-to-site, wide and local area networks and 5G.

The framework will run for two years with options to extend for two more, and there is no maximum length for call-off contracts.

It includes 145 suppliers sharing places on four lots split into 12 sub-lots on data access services, commercial radio, tactical radio, critical domain services, local connectivity services, IoT and smart cities, communication platform as a service, analogue telephony, digital communication services, contact centres, inbound telephony and paging and alerting.

CCS said the lotting structure has been updated to reflect the marketplace, and that the agreement incorporates a ‘requirements builder template’ for connectivity needs to help buyers.

Improving customer journey

The organisation’s commercial director and chief technology procurement officer, Philip Orumwense, said: “This new framework will support the public sector to access user based communication solutions, such as integrated voice, data and video. Our aim is to contribute to an improved customer journey and better value for money, whilst supporting the promotion of ‘cloud first’ future networks for government initiatives.

“It is yet another example of how CCS is helping the public sector to adapt and make the best use of technology and innovative solutions within the modern hybrid workspace.”
