New version of procurement framework estimated to be worth up to £600 million
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has said the latest iteration of G-Cloud is open for business and flagged up the heavy presence of SMEs among the suppliers on the procurement framework.
It said more than 90% of the 3,505 companies are small and medium enterprises, with 33% being micro-SMEs. Also, the total number of firms has increased by 649 from the previous version of G-Cloud.
CCS said that more than £3 billion of cloud and digital services have been procured by public bodies through the iterations of G-Cloud since its launch in 2012, with 48% of the spend going to SMEs, and estimated the new framework could eventually be worth £600 million.
Minister for Implementation Oliver Dowden said: “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, delivering innovative solutions in partnership with the public sector, fuelling economic growth and supporting the delivery of efficient, effective public services that meet the needs of citizens.
“The success of G-Cloud demonstrates how we are breaking down the barriers for SMEs who want to supply to government.”
