Aggregated procurement competition covered 17 public sector customers with more than 21,000 connections
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has claimed an average 61% saving on voice and data services for 17 public sector customers through an aggregated procurement competition.
It said the savings came from bringing together the relevant requirements for more than 21,000 connections within lot six of the Network Services framework and produced an equivalent saving of £2.7 million over two years for all the organisations.
This involved a sealed bid process, and was backed up by the customers being provided with an ‘indicative savings analysis template’ to assess the savings they could achieve, by comparing an indicative tariff with their existing rates. This meant they could quickly assess the benefits they could achieve from joining the aggregated procurement and present them as part of their business case.
Under the contract, they can move their phone connections as and when their existing contracts expire, as long as it is in the first two years of the three-year deal.
Manchester benefits
Among the organisations involved were seven members of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA).
Its procurement manager, Paul Maynard, commented: “By aggregating volumes and treating mobile and voice data as a ‘common commodity requirement’, seven AGMA members will be able to save in the region of £1.24 million.
“In addition to cashable savings, the group will also benefit from a more flexible solution and improved terms, including an increased choice of tariff rates that can scale up and down as required every 30 days, shared data bundles and 4G by default.”
