The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has said the public sector has achieved £1.5 billion in commercial benefits through the G-Cloud procurement framework since its launch in 2012.
It has marked the 10-year anniversary by highlighting the benefits and forecasting that G-Cloud, which encourages public sector bodies to evaluate and procure cloud based services, will help to deliver around £200 million in benefits this year.
It added that over £4 billion of the total £11 billion has been spent with SMEs in 10 years, with over 5,000 suppliers offering more than 38,000 services through the framework.
CCS is planning to launch a new iteration, G-Cloud 13, later this year. This will include: new terms and conditions, with greater inclusion of the provision of day rate cloud support service; inclusion of the latest procurement policies, including prompt payment; a fourth lot for cloud support services for larger, more complex requirements; and a 36-month call-off term with an optional 12-month extension.
