Calls for expressions of interest from potential customers with aim to award contract in March 2018
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has kicked off a major aggregated procurement for mobile voice and data services with the aim of providing significant savings for the public sector organisations that take part.
It has called for expressions of interest from potential buyers, saying it plans to gather customer requirements between now and December and to choose the supplier by March 2018.
It is looking for a supplier to provide mobile voice and data services to the public sector at the most competitive price available. When the award is made, each individual supplier will sign their own contract with the winner.
The competition, which will be run under Lot 6 of CCS’s Network Services framework, will involve setting out a handful of requirements for suppliers. These include establishing a zero line rental for basic connections – so that customers do not incur costs from unused lines – and structuring services as ‘bolt-ons’ that can be added to the basic connection, enabling packages to be built to customer specifications.
In addition, there will 30-day terms for bolt-ons to enable customers to change their mix of services during the contract term.

These projects have a great track record of utilising the buying power of the public sector to leverage the best deals from suppliers, ensuring that public bodies can deliver efficient public services.”
Earlier this month CCS reported that its most recent voice and data procurement provided average savings of 61% for the 17 public sector organisations that took part.
