The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has agreed on a new three-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IBM.

It said this will make it easier for public sector organisations to use the company’s cloud services and software, building on the previous agreement from 2020 with additional discounts.

The MoU provides for UK public sector customers to access a “competitive baseline of pricing” which CCS represents significant savings.

In addition, the agreement includes discounted pricing for sustainability software, increased cyber security offerings, and free training and secondment opportunities. Free innovation projects will also be made available under which eligible bodies will be able to test IBM products.

Driving innovation

Philip Orumwense, commercial director and chief technology procurement officer at CCS, said: “I am delighted that Crown Commercial Service and IBM have worked collaboratively on this MoU, which aims to drive innovation that will improve essential public services for UK citizens.

“Establishing new routes to market and supporting the digital ambitions of organisations across the entire public sector has been a strategic deliverable for CCS and this MoU marks another great milestone in delivering value and operational choice.”

CCS has MoUs with a number of major technology companies including HPE, Salesforce, AWS, Oracle and Microsoft.
