Innovation index to complement crowdfunding platform for digital public services

Recently launched crowd funding platform CC2i has entered a partnership with public sector IT association Socitm and the Local Public Services CIO Council

A spokesperson for CC2i (Co-fund to Collaborate and Innovate), which is focusing its efforts on raising money for the development of digital public services, told UKAuthority it has reached an agreement with the other organisations and that work on the first project has begun.

Socitm is developing an index on local authority digital innovation for its Better Connected programme’s website. The spokesperson said this will complement and show support for the CC2i initiative, and that the organisations aim to work together on more projects.

Futher details of the index are due to be published soon.

Public and private

The CC2i platform, which was launched in July, is open to teams from any service or department in the public sector, along with SMEs that want to work with public authorities and struggle with complicated procurement procedures.

Its founder, Guy Giles (pictured), said: “This not only adds weight to our approach, but confirms our belief around the timing and currency of CC2i.

“Having worked across the digital public sector for 15 years, we really feel that the time is right for structured and supported public sector collaboration and that this will result in significant savings, better products and improved outcomes.”

Socitm director of policy and research Martin Ferguson, who is also responsible for the LCIOC and Better Connected programmes, said: “The invitation to support and collaborate with the CC2i initiative came just as LCICO had been considering the Better Connected proposals to provide an index of council digital shares. We had no hesitation in accepting the invitation.”
