Carmarthenshire County Council has launched a new self-service portal for residents, using the Granicus govService platform.
It began to use the platform in mid-June and has created a new booking system for its household waste recycling centre which recorded 8,000 new sign-ups in its first week.
It has also made plans for re-opening some services post-lockdown, with provision for a book reservation and collection service for the public libraries in the county, and a system to book season and daily tickets for its country park.
The portal has been integrated with Granicus’ new CaseViewer case management solution, which is said to use predefined or custom filters to take users through the service process more quickly. Both systems are bilingual, making it possible to present all text in Welsh.
Empowering
Julian Williams, Carmarthenshire applications development manager, said: “The govService self-service portal empowers the citizens of Carmarthenshire to take control of their own public services while remaining safely in their homes.
“Through our Hwb platform, they have access to the council and their own information any time of the day or night. In today's COVID-19 reality, we knew we needed to accelerate the use of the govService tools so that our customers can experience a more modern and seamless experience in their interactions with local government services.”
The council is also implementing a single sign-on feature for its revenues and benefits operation to promote more self-service.
