The Department for Work and Pensions has awarded Capita the contract to run the Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) programme in Scotland.
Under the 12-month, £21.7 million deal the company is developing an online portal to support jobseekers.
JETS, which has been in operation in England and Wales since October, provides support to people who have been unemployed for between 13 weeks and 12 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The portal gives jobseekers referred to JETS access to a learning management system with online learning for qualifications for growing sectors of the economy, a skills library to help find appropriate online courses, a digital CV builder, a live job feed that links to the CV and an action plan.
In addition, they get to meet every 10 days with an adviser.
Capita will also manage supply chain partners in providing jobseekers with skilled advice.
Its chief executive officer for government services, Andy Start, said: “We have used our extensive experience designing and delivering digital services, which support diverse groups of vulnerable people, to develop our approach for the JETS programme and support the UK’s economic recovery.
“Through expert coaching, and our new Capita developed digital platform, we hope to support many jobseekers in Scotland make the transition from unemployment into work.”
