The Cabinet Office has awarded CGI a contract to act as its strategic delivery partner for its efforts with digital, data and technology (DDaT).
The contract award notice states that the agreement came into effect last month, with an initial term of three years and value of up £60 million but with options for two one-year extensions that could take the total to £100 million.
It was awarded as a call-off contract under the Crown Commercial Service Technology Services 3 procurement framework.
While the award notice provides little detail, the requirement was highlighted in a market engagement even run in April of last year by IT industry association techUK. Its announcement stated that the Cabinet Office Digital team was looking at creating a more collaborative delivery model for DDaT through a strategic delivery partnership, and to “streamline the landscape of current services”.
SME priority
The latter would involve further developing the ecosystem of partners with a particular focus on SMEs.
Among the requirements of the partner are to support programme management, contribute to engagement with SMEs, support the onboarding of supplier teams to cover the full range of DDaT skills, and help to build the skills of Cabinet Office employees.
This is the second major deal between the department and CGI in recent months, following the retention of the company in December for management of the National Security Vetting System.
