The Cabinet Office has launched an online Border Innovation Hub with information and tools to support the development of new solutions and integration with government systems.

It has taken the step as part of the Technology and Innovation Roadmap within the 2025 UK Border Strategy and indicated the hub will provide a first point of contact to create connections with relevant technology teams.

A key element of the hub is a collection of APIs to support the integration of new solutions and government systems, including those for data on goods vehicle movements, checking an economic operator’s registration and identification (EORI) number, the Customs Declaration Service, the Import Control System Northern Ireland, the National Export System and the New Computerised Transit System.

Work is also taking place on an API catalogue to bring them all into a central location.

It also includes the roadmap, with its outline of creating the point of contact, defining target use cases with industry, setting and collating security and interoperability standards, and working across government to design the border and support innovation.

A third section covers opportunities and funding.

The Cabinet Office added that the hub will be updated with opportunities for industry to join pilots and apply for procurement opportunities.
