Burnley Borough Council has selected location intelligence company Cadcorp to supply a cloud hosted geographical information system (GIS) and web mapping.

The three-year contract was awarded using the G-Cloud procurement framework and includes the Cadcorp cloud services SIS Desktop, SIS WebMap and Spatial Database Service, along with onboarding services.

The council is making the move in response to a need to migrate from a legacy system to a cloud GIS that can easily integrate with its new building control system.

Its specific requirements have included integrating with the latest Ordnance Survey National Geographical Database (OSNGD), creating and editing spatial data within a browser, streamlining constraints spatial searches, and reporting incidents on a map.

Burnley’s project manager Ray Dobson said: “We needed a cloud hosted and fully supported GIS and spatial database solution.  Following a G-Cloud supplier review, it became obvious that Cadcorp offered the best overall fit with our requirements.”
