Buckinghamshire Council is backing a local version of a national online resource for unpaid carers in the county
It has partnered with Mobilise, the digital community for carers. Mobilise was created by carers for carers and provides advice, peer support and tools for the daily care of family members with significant health needs.
Across the country, Mobilise has 90,000 members and has already worked with local authorities in Camden in London, Cambridgeshire and Shropshire.
Carers in Buckinghamshire will have access to an online peer community. This community comes together for virtual tea breaks, events and a forum. They will have access to support services for dealing with benefits such as the Carer’s Allowance, advice on balancing caring and work, and insights into the law and their rights.
The council believes it has 40,000 residents providing support to their family members. It ran a pilot of the Mobilise service with funding from the Accelerating Reform Fund, provided by the Department of Health and Social Care. Now that Mobilise is being rolled out to Buckinghamshire citizens, additional levels of support will be available.
