Broxbourne Borough Council and Welwyn Hatfield District Council have awarded a contract to Liberata to modernise a range of services.

It will commence on 1 April and is scheduled to run for an initial seven years with the potential to extend for three more and could have a value up to £30 million.

The contract covers services including council tax, business rates, revenues and benefits, systems provision and hosting.

Liberata said this will support the digital transformation of the councils’ shared services, with a number of improvement initiatives.

Welwyn Hatfield’s director of finance and transformation, Richard Baker, said: “As a council we are focused on ensuring that the services delivered are both sustainable and of the highest quality. We are delighted to be working with Liberata to help deliver these services on behalf of our residents and businesses.”

Broxbourne’s assistant director of resources, Rebecca Keane, commented: “Council tax and business rates collection will improve, ensuring that we have the funds to deliver the vital services that have a positive impact on residents’ lives. We look forward to working closely in partnership with Liberata to help achieve our aims.”
