The British Army is to use the Asite data platform as part of its Vehicle Support Storage Programme (VSSP).
Development and construction company Skanska, which won the £259 million contract to deliver the storage facility in May, has chosen Asite to support the programme, which will involve demolishing 58 buildings, constructing 12 new ones, refurbishing one existing facility and renewing site-wide infrastructure.
Under a five-year contract it will utilise the Asite Common Data Environment, Field Management and Tender Management solutions.
The programme is aimed at creating a safe and sustainable way of maintaining and protecting British Army equipment and its vehicle fleet. Work is due to begin on-site in the autumn and all construction is scheduled to be completed by 2027, when the Ashchurch site will provide a controlled humidity environment for 4,100 vehicles.
Security accreditation
Earlier this year Asite obtained accreditation from the Cyber Defence and Risk Team in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to handle data at Official Tier level.
The company’s vice president of operations for UK and Europe, Pietro Leo, said: “This announcement follows Asite’s recent security accreditation, which enable MoD information to be stored and processed through our cloud platform – a key requirement for Skanska and this project.
“We’ve been collaborating with Skanska for over a year now and are pleased to support them in achieving their digital strategy and continue developing our partnership with this leading organisation.”
