Bristol City Council has launched a new online service for residents to get tailored advice and guidance for solutions to their housing problems.

The council said it will support people in dealing with a range of housing issues such as tenancy rights, eviction, financial trouble, domestic violence and quality of housing.

One of its prime aims is to help people find alternative accommodation before they become homeless.

The service has been developed by homelessness charity AdviceAid alongside Bristol’s Housing Options service and local and national support services to ensure that residents are signposted to the most appropriate place for their circumstances.

No personal details are required, with users only needing to answer some simple questions about their current situation or concerns.

First point of advice

Cllr Barry Parsons, chair of the homes and housing delivery committee, said: “In Bristol, the main reported reasons for homelessness are private rented tenancies ending, family breakdown and domestic abuse.

"Our new online service for housing advice will provide a first point of advice for these situations and many others, allowing people to take a first step towards getting help.”

The service is part of the council’s Tackling Homelessness Programme.
