City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council has signed a new deal with Virgin Media Business for managed network services.
The contract, which goes into operation on 1 July, will run for five years and is valued at £2.8 million.
It maintains the role of Virgin, which has held the predecessor contract, to provide connectivity and network services for corporate sites and schools in the district and will require migration to a new dark fibre infrastructure.
An earlier procurement notice states: “The managed service will continue for the entire length of the contract and will operate on both the interim connections and the new dark fibre connections.”
The installation of a full fibre network for Bradford was begun last year as part of a £75 million investment by CityFibre, building on the company’s existing dark fibre network in the city.
