The Border Force is planning to develop a new web based application named ScanApp to manage the x-ray scans carried out by its officers.
It has indicated that it wants to integrate the relevant data into wider Home Office IT systems and that the application could be used by officials from outside the force.
The agency has published a market notice for support in an 18-month beta phase project that will involve implementing a standard data structure in its scanning operations to improve data sharing with partners.
It also wants to provide a bespoke interface for its officers to analyse x-ray images, provide remote access to scanning operations along with a digital audit trail, develop a data repository and standardise the relevant workflow and processes.
Discovery and alpha phases of the project have already been carried out by the agency’s Detection Services Portfolio team.
A parallel procurement is also being carried out for an image viewer development.
