The London Borough of Bexley has renewed its contract with Capita for the delivery of its revenues and benefits services.
The company said the contract was won following a competitive tender process, is worth £32 million over seven years and nine months, and will involve maximising the use of digital technologies to deliver services.
Capita has partnered with Bexley since 1996 in which time it has invested more than £6 million in technology to support the operation. It has claimed a sharp reduction in processing times for housing benefit, averaging 12 days for the first six months of 2017-18 against a national average of 22.
Andy Start, chief executive officer of government services at Capita, said: “Capita’s partnership with the London Borough of Bexley is one of our most enduring. We are delighted to have been selected as their partner to continue to provide these critical services and deliver better outcomes for the authority and its residents.”
