BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT is migrating its legacy IT infrastructure to a cloud system as part of the planned relocation of its Swindon headquarters.
The charity has chosen the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud and integrated AHV hypervisor, along with the XiLeap cloud hosted disaster recovery as a service solution built into the software.
The migration involves replacing end of life servers and storage networks with the cluster to save rack space and reduce power and cooling costs. BCS plans to move over 60 virtual machines from VMware to the AHV hypervisor.
BCS network engineer Dugal Williams said: “Beyond performance, scalability and feature set, we were looking for simplicity. The Nutanix Enterprise Cloud plus AHV more than meets that requirement, helping enable us to manage our virtual and physical resources together from the one Prism console.”
He added that it had planned to look at disaster recovery options once the migration was complete, but changed its mind when it saw the Xi Leap option was available.
