The BBC has chosen 18 companies for places on its new procurement framework for systems delivery and integration services.

The corporation has indicated it could spend up to £40 million with the suppliers over the four years of the contract, which went into operation in mid-April.

A spokesperson said the arrangement is replacing one that has recently expired and includes spend from the commercial arm, BBC Studies, which is not covered by the licence fee.

According to the newly published contract notice, the deal involves two lots: one for systems delivery and integration, involving bespoke development, quality assurance and testing of BBC systems; the other for development and integration of SAP products. Both have a value of up to £20 million.

The companies on the framework are Atos IT Services UK, CGI IT UK, Cognizant Worldwide, Deloitte, EPI-USE Labs, Ernst & Young, HCL Technologies, IBM UK, Invenio Business Solutions, NTT Data, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Redcentric Solutions, SAP Source, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Wipro and Apsolut.

“Similar to other large organisations, the BBC utilises external suppliers to undertake a range of systems work including new system development, and updates to our existing systems,” the spokesperson said. “Having a range of qualified suppliers to work with within the framework ensures value for money for licence fee payers.”
