Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust will introduce a unified communications system for its 6,500 staff that provides voice, video, messaging and content sharing, allowing them to work more flexibly
The trust started to install the cloud Cisco service in March and plans to put it live in September. It is working with Cinos, which replaced the trust’s previous telephone system in 2016, on the project.
“The benefits of the new platform will also extend to patients, as a new centrally managed contact centre will make it easier for them to engage with our clinical services,” said Liam Abbott, the trust’s chief technology officer. “By improving the quality and efficiency of communications, we’re making our services more accessible to those who depend on them.
The use of a cloud platform will allow the trust to scale up services when needed and integrate with other organisations such as GP surgeries, community hospitals and vaccination centres. “It’s more important than ever that we’re able to work in a flexible and efficient way,” added Abbott.
