Barts Health NHS Trust has begun to deploy Cynerio’s healthcare focused cyber security platform.

It is aiming to minimise common risks faced by healthcare providers, including data breaches, ransomware incidents and other malicious attacks.

The trust has opted to implement Cynerio’s full suite, including network detection and response for healthcare (NDR-H) technology designed to monitor network traffic and detect and respond to threats. This sits within the hospital’s network and monitors traffic without interfering with traffic flow, identifying unusual traffic, performing analysis and alerting team members to potential attacks.

Cynerio said that in the month since the deployment of the platform at the trust’s two primary data centres has identified more than 9,500 previously unmonitored devices. These devices are now monitored, analysed and secured in real time by Barts Health staff working with the Cynerio customer team.

The company said the platform is designed to provide full visibility and security analysis of connected devices, including internet of things, internet of medical things and mobile devices.

It added that Barts Health will be able to extend its insights into its network risk with discovery into vulnerabilities in the infrastructure and identifying the location of devices.
