Scotland’s central auditor has announced plans for an investigation into the Scottish Government’s progress in its digital efforts.

Audit Scotland said it is aiming to provide an update from its previous reports on managing ICT contracts and lessons learned from projects. This will include examining progress against the digital strategy, the impact of new assurance arrangements, and where possible, a comparison of the Scottish Government’s approach and progress with other countries.

Its project scope note says the audit will cover progress in digital government and public services, reviewing which approaches are working and the reason for their success. It will also identify barriers or limitations to the effectiveness of the Scottish Government’s approach, what can be done to address them, and make recommendations for improvement.

The auditor plans to publish a report in the summer of next year.
