Smart but simple technologies can make a huge difference to effective service delivery and resource management, he says. Today's common platforms are capable of building on top of existing systems, joining up services and improving workforce mobility across the public sector - and bringing a wealth of complementary services such as bots and data analytics within the reach of all local services.
Meanwhile cloud is becoming more secure, easier to deploy and commoditised. Carter that Microsoft spends more on security than the entire local government technology budget every year to ensure that its cloud platforms are always up to date, always secure and getting better every day.
