The UK Armed Forces are to set up a unified digital platform to support a new recruitment service for the Army, Royal Navy and RAF.
It will be developed by Pegasystems under the prime contract with Serco for the new Armed Forces Recruitment Service, which is scheduled for launch in 2027 to replace the individual schemes for the three forces.
Minister for the Armed Forces Luke Pollard said: “Under the innovative new recruitment service, candidates will complete one application and one medical evaluation via a single, digital system - offering a more straightforward process that seeks to retain applicant interest.
“Our ambition is for those who apply to serve our country to receive a conditional answer within 10 days and a training start date within 30 days.”
Platform capabilities
Pegasystems said the digital platform will support customer service, workflow automation and decision making powered by generative AI. It will also involve the use of the company’s Pega GenAI Blueprint platform to build new applications.
The digital service will be aimed at streamlining the entire recruitment journey, from initial candidate engagement through to successful enlistment and into basic training.
The company’s low code software has been used in the recruitment platforms for the Royal Navy and RAF since 2021.
Pollard added: “Our innovative new Armed Forces Recruitment Service will help us attract top talent from across the UK – bolstering our national security as the foundation for our government’s Plan for Change.
“By making it quicker and easier for people to sign up to serve, while maintaining the very highest standards, we will strengthen our Armed Forces and make the UK more secure.”
