Ards and North Down Borough Council and North Down’s Strategic Community Planning Partnership have launched a mobile app to support people with a problem of need of advice.
Named Here2Help, it has been developed by Noel McKee at East Antrim Counselling and includes a directory of local and regional non-profit organisations.
In 2020, the community partnership committed to helping improve the emotional wellbeing of residents and identified the Here2Help app as a key tool to support the delivery. It provides a free space where people can easily access information and can be directed to organisations that can help in a time of need.
The local authority has invited organisations that can provide support to register their details for the app.
Assistance in crisis
Mayor of Ards and North Down Cllr Karen Douglas, said: “As we head into the winter months, the cost of living crisis will continue to have a detrimental impact on individuals and families throughout the borough. Easy access to support and advice is vital to ensure we get the most appropriate assistance to people when they need it.
“I would encourage residents to download the app and use it to locate services, to ask advice or to seek help.
“I would also encourage any non-profit organisations who have not already registered to get in touch with the council to ensure their details are on the app. Together we can ensure that people have access to a range of local support.”
