The Department for Health and Social Care has awarded the contract for field services in the Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) to Telent Technology Services.
It has published a contract notice indicating that the deal is worth at least £23.6 million over seven and a half years, with digital hardware and support accounting for a large element of the services to be provided.
The prime role of the company will be to provide field support, logistics and vehicle installation services for ambulance trusts in England and potentially for those in Scotland and Wales along with police forces in Great Britain.
It covers the provision of hardware including vehicle routers capable of connecting to multiple communications bearers, including the Emergency Services Network, ruggedised tablet devices for running the National Mobilisation Application, docks for mounting the tablets in vehicles and associated hardware such as antennas, wiring looms, microphones and loudspeakers.
Telent has a role in other elements of critical national infrastructure, having won significant contracts in recent years with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Transport for London.
